Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles’
Commitment to Diversity

Statement of Contribution to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles (“PAC LA”), is an arts organization engaged in creating an evolving conversation inspired by photography and photo-based art. Founded in 2013, we are independent from any one museum/art institution in Los Angeles. The board of PAC LA recognizes the extraordinary diversity of the city of Los Angeles and the opportunity for engagement with a wide variety of experiences and points of view. Photography is a fine-art medium that is particularly accessible to a broad audience, and we seek to amplify the voices of artists using photography as a means to greater cultural and personal understanding.

Our History In Community

PAC LA’s long-standing community is made up of collectors, enthusiasts, educators, artists, museum curators, and historians. We produce active educational programming, create community in the photographic arts, and share our community of knowledge with a growing audience of creative youth and diverse communities. PAC LA also provides grants to newly developed organizations in underserved communities throughout Los Angeles supporting education and training in the photographic arts for young people.

We’re Growing

In recent months, PAC LA recognized an opportunity to grow beyond the regional arts programming in Los Angeles offered by museums and galleries by expanding our audience and reach with an immersive online conversation series offered free to the public, expanding our programming to include more diverse voices and perspectives reflective of the demographics of Los Angeles.

Our Role In Community

PAC LA is solely focused on the photographic arts and is independent of agendas associated with established arts organizations and museums. This focus and independence allows us to be agile and able to pivot easily to promote equity, diversity and inclusion not only in our own programming but with our sustained partnerships and support for grassroots organizations such as Las Fotos Project and Venice Arts.
