Past Board Directors
Paula Ely
A founding Board member, Paula Ely stepped down as President of PAC LA at the end of 2023. Her tenure as President ushered in enormous changes within the organization, leaving us prepared for our coming years of growth. Paula’s leadership was strong and outward focused, directing PAC LA to be ever-more inclusive and open to the broad LA community. Her focus was also on internal planning, and her influence on the group has been profound. Paula will continue to be an active member of PAC LA. It has been our great good fortune and privilege to have this remarkable leader at our helm.
Roger Hill
Roger Hill is a Founding Board member of PAC LA, serving through the summer of 2020. Roger has been crucial to PAC LA’s success and standing as a non-profit in the photo community of Los Angeles and beyond. During his tenure on the PAC LA Board, Roger was involved in the organization on every level with undaunted enthusiasm and knowledge. He is the Managing Director of Berkeley Street Associates, a Los Angeles-based real estate consulting firm specializing in the multifamily marketplace. His background in real estate and finance covers more than 40 years experience. He and his wife Barbara have been collecting photography for over ten years, with their eclectic holdings ranging from vintage black and white to contemporary color. Recent additions to their collection were acquired on a trip to Havana, Cuba.
Gloria Katz Huyck
In November of 2018, we lost our esteemed colleague, Gloria Katz Huyck. Gloria was the Chair of PAC LA from its inception, guiding us through our transition from LACMA to become a flourishing, independent non-profit organization. Her clear vision, humor and unparalleled agile mind helped us grow as a nimble, broad-reaching force in the photo community. Gloria set the highest standards for PAC LA and never stopped imagining our potential as an organization.
Richard Krelstein
Richard Krelstein stepped down as Treasurer of PAC LA in the fall of 2021. As a founding Board member, Richard’s involvement reaches back to the LACMA days. With a deep background in finance and the non-profit world, Richard played a crucial role in establishing PAC LA as a vibrant, financially stable organization. This invaluable foundation has helped to steer PAC LA in our current development efforts and future goals.
Mary Maffei
Mary Maffei resigned from the PAC LA board in the Spring of 2022 on the occasion of her relocating to the East Coast. Mary spent six years as an integral member of the board. Her career as a producer brought special skills that guided and organized our complex membership rosters, helping to build PAC LA into the organization it is today. She continues to be a true champion of PAC LA, having participated in all aspects of our photo-based programming life, from events based here in town, to far-flung destinations like Paris and Japan, and will continue to be an active member of PAC LA.
Marjorie Ornston
Marjorie stepped down from the board in December 2023. She served for six years as a valuable member of the team, enthusiastically building and supporting the programming slate of PAC LA. Margie’s most recent contribution was her coordination and presentation of one of the organization’s greatest successes, A Picture A Minute, an online experience inspired by Agnès Varda. We are looking forward to Margie’s continuing participation in the PAC LA family as an ongoing member.
