The Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles — PAC LA — is thrilled to announce that the Eastman Museum Los Angeles is sponsoring an exciting series of events unfolding throughout 2025 and into 2026.

This year, PAC LA will be launching Year of the Woman, a series of flagship public educational events celebrating notable women in photography. The entire year of programming will focus on this central theme and will offer free, in-person public events held quarterly at venues across the city. The robust slate of programming will feature six conversations that look at several sides of our photography community.

These include a discussion with women who have built significant photography collections, a panel about breakthrough women photobook creators, a conversation gathering a group of pioneering women gallerists, and a presentation in the fall by a celebrated photographer. Toward the end of 2025, there will be a public online visit with women in the essential roles of photo conservators, and to finish out Year of the Woman—and to begin 2026—the program will bring together some of the nation’s most influential women curators of photography in conversation.

PAC LA is honored to have the Eastman LA sponsor this programming, enabling all events to be free and in-person while also supporting our long-time efforts as an independent arts community leader in Los Angeles.

PAC LA is a non-profit organization that creates unique public-facing programming, engaging, and educating the community in an evolving public conversation about photography and photo-based art.

Eastman Museum Los Angeles is a recently launched venture of the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, New York—with the mission of contributing to arts, culture, and education in Los Angeles. The George Eastman Museum is a cultural, educational, and historical institution established in 1947 and recognized worldwide for its collections that include photographic objects, films, technology objects, a vast library, and archival materials related to photography, cinema, and the life of George Eastman. Eastman LA plans to open a museum venue in Los Angeles and is continuing to search for an appropriate space. The venue will present exhibitions related to photography, moving images, and technology—making the George Eastman Museum collections accessible to a larger audience while creating a new space for contemporary photography and visual culture in Los Angeles.

Dates for all programs will be announced on the PAC LA and Eastman LA websites: paclosangeles.com and eastmanla.org and through Instagram accounts @photographicartscouncil_la and @eastmanmuseumla.
